Decision support refers to helping people with limited decision-making ability to live as independently as possible while respecting their own will and wishes.
Elderly people with dementia, physical disabilities, and people with intellectual disabilities.Decision-making supporters understand the intentions and wishes of the individual, and provide support while respecting the individual's self-determination through the provision of information, the exchange of opinions, and proxy decision-making procedures.A decision supporter is a person who provides support for self-determination to a person whose self-judgment ability is limited due to reasons such as dementia or intellectual disability.
